“Bamboo represents an alternative to the more common materials in building production, such as concrete, wood and steel. This is due to its extreme lightness, tensile strength, and its good flex quality, growth rate, worldwide procurement, and low cost. Over the years, we have demonstrated, through a vast number of architectural projects, the various possibilities of using bamboo, at different scales of intervention, function, form and structure. This pavilion, featuring 11 inclined triangular columns, a hyperbolic-paraboloid bamboo structure and a natural thatched roof, is our latest experimentation with bamboo as “21st century green steel”. The bamboo pavilion associates a modular system with craftsmanship: in fact it is designed to be easily assembled and disassembled. The bamboo used for the assembly of the main structure of the pavilion will be transported to the construction site directly from Vietnam, and assembled by Vietnamese architects, craftsmen and volunteers.“.
